Button on a String.

I've been sewing buttons onto elastic bands lately, for my crayon rolls, and the action reminded me of a toy I had a long time ago. Remember these?
I used to get my long hair caught in the string. All the time. Click the picture, or here for detailed instructions (why?) to make your own.

Wow, flashback to my grandmother, which hyperlinked my mind to the spoolmobile (not what she called it, of course). I found one online:

I think the ones of my childhood were simpler- a button and toothpick on opposite sides.
